A Year On…. (Update - 9th January 2011)
Well just as i was getting on with my weight loss and I was approved for obesity surgery (choice of either gastric banding or gastric bypass) and started my 6month prep for surgery/ show them I’m committed stint… what happens? I get PREGNANT!!!!
Sooooooo instead of losing weight…. I put it on…. and on…. and on….and on….
I carried a lot of fluid and baby was growing into a baby elephant so at one point I was over 21st (134kg/295.4lb). My diabetes was also raging out of control which is dangerous forgrowing babies and i was on a high dose of insulin 4 times a day, yet still struggling to get my blood sugar levels within range.
After having steroid injections my blood sugars suddenly dropped and I was averaging 3 hypos a day I was admitted into hospital and monitored while my insulin was dropped by 90% and still close to hypos so they decided to deliver the baby 5 weeks early.
so in Mid November I gave birth to Daniel, who weighed 8lb 8oz (4kg)
I decided that I would got back into denial about my diabetes as the probs with my diabetes at the end of my pregnancy caused my anxiety and panic attacks to become pretty bad and i wanted to de-stress and enjoy being a Mummy before having to think about what I was eating, medication etc.
So that’s about it, I’m now thinking about restarting my weight loss journey. My current weight is…..
18st 12.6lbs (120kg/264.6lbs)
I was told by the dietitian that I can go back on the waiting list for surgery, but for now I am going to give it a few months of trying to eat better and see how I get on. My partner and I are getting married this year at some point, so i’d like to shed a few pounds before then, no date set yet - just gonna be a small registry office wedding later in the year (when we can afford it!) So that’s my motivation!
